This incredibly scenic route, which original started it’s life as a railway line, is now traffic-free and delightfully flat, perfect for beginners. The trail both follows the river inland and out to sea.

Not up for the full trail? No worries! Break it down into three stages with straightforward routes between Wadebridge and Padstow, Bodmin, and Wenford Bridge. And guess what? Bike Smart is right in the heart of Wadebridge, making it the perfect starting point for any Camel Trail journey you choose! Saddle up and hit the trail!

Scenery that's hard to beat

Prepare to be awe-struck by the breathtaking beauty of the Camel estuary, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. On clear days, the scenery is simply spectacular! The river teems with a diverse array of wildlife, making it a special area of conservation.

Along the Camel Trail

Wadebridge to Padstow

Follow the Camel Estuary towards Padstow, enjoying wide waterside views, wildlife and plenty of places to stop along the way. Finish at Padstow’s famous harbour, where cafés, restaurants and shops make it the perfect place for a well-earned break.

5.5 miles

Wadebridge to Bodmin

A quieter and greener section of the trail, winding alongside the River Camel through woodland and countryside towards Bodmin. Expect a peaceful ride with picnic spots, old railway features and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the surrounding nature.

5.75 miles

Bodmin to Wenfordbridge

Head deeper into rural Cornwall on the quieter stretch towards Wenfordbridge. The route gradually climbs towards the edge of Bodmin Moor, passing through woodland and open countryside for a more peaceful Camel Trail experience.

Keeping the trail safe for everyone.

Our bike hires start from £21 for adults bikes and £10 for children’s bikes.

Our bikes range from comfort hybrids (city bike) to hard tail mountain bikes. We have a few ebikes available too.

Yes we offer 16″, 20″ and 24″ wheel sizes.

This reduces damage to the surface & the likelihood of an accident involving other users.

Litter is unsightly, takes years to biodegrade & can be very dangerous. Dog faeces are a particular nuisance.

Cyclists are advised to wear a safety helmet & to carry a puncture repair kit. Cycling with your dog on or off leash can be dangerous.

There is no public access to any adjoining land, or to the river, except on signed paths.

Inconsiderate behaviour whilst using the Trail can spoil people’s enjoyment of it.

You are given a licence with every bike above a 20″ wheel size, we ask these are not removed incase of council inspection.
